✦ ABOUT THE OPAL ✦

The opals used in these pieces are Gilson lab-created opals.

Gilson opal is a synthetic/lab-created opal rather than a naturally mined opal. It is specifically valued by glass artists for its brilliant play-of-color and its compatibility with glassworking applications.

The opal is paired with borosilicate glass, a durable glass commonly used by lampworkers and glass artists.

The colors and flashes you see inside each piece are created by the interaction of the opal, glass, light, and viewing angle. Depending on the lighting and angle, a single charm may show flashes of green, blue, pink, orange, yellow, or other colors.

Every piece is individually handmade.

Because these are made one at a time by hand, there will naturally be differences in size, shape, thickness, color, opal placement, and optical appearance.

The photographs show the actual individual charms available for purchase.

✦ IMPORTANT: HOW THESE CHARMS WEAR ✦

These are designed specifically as necklace charms.

They are not intended to be used as keychains, bag charms, zipper pulls, or other accessories that experience frequent pulling or impact.

Because the glass bail and charm are designed to hang from a necklace, some styles may naturally move, rotate, tilt, or swing while being worn.

In particular, the Orbit and Pendant styles are not designed to permanently face one direction. The charm may turn as you move, causing the opal to appear different from moment to moment.

That’s part of the charm’s design — the opal’s color play can change dramatically as it catches different angles of light.

If you are looking for a pendant that will always remain perfectly front-facing, these may not be the right style for you.

Every charm is handmade individually, so sizes vary from piece to piece.

The charm you receive will be the exact letter you select from the listing photograph.

Because these are handmade glass pieces rather than mass-produced jewelry components, no two charms will be perfectly identical.

Small variations and imperfections are part of the handmade process and are not considered defects.

Borosilicate glass is strong and durable, but it is still glass.

To keep your charm looking beautiful:

• Wear it on a necklace rather than attaching it to a bag or keychain
• Avoid dropping or striking the charm against hard surfaces
• Remove before sleeping, exercising, swimming, or bathing
• Avoid perfumes, hairspray, lotions, and harsh chemicals directly on the glass
• Avoid ultrasonic jewelry cleaners
• Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth when necessary
• Store separately from other jewelry to prevent scratches or impacts
• Treat the glass bail with the same care you would give the charm itself

While borosilicate glass is more resistant to thermal shock than many other types of glass, sudden extreme temperature changes should still be avoided.

Each charm is made completely by hand, one at a time, using lampworking techniques and borosilicate glass.

The higher-priced Gem Orb and Crushed Opal pieces involve additional glassworking, layering, shaping, and carefully incorporating the opal into the glass.

Each piece also contains Gilson lab-created opal, which is specifically chosen for its brilliant optical effects and compatibility with glass.

These are not mass-produced charms or purchased jewelry components. The glass, opal, shape, bail, and finished piece are all assembled and formed by me individually.

Because each charm is handmade, each one requires its own torch time, materials, finishing, inspection, and careful handling.

You are purchasing an individually made piece of glass art that happens to be wearable.
